Well, hello there. I’m Jess. Welcome to my blog! Were you hoping to find out some random useless info about me, lots of talk about my new baby and at least one picture of my dogs? You’re in luck, my friends.
Why I’m Stealthy:
I find great joy in sneaking healthy ingredients (that may scare some people *cough-my-husband-cough*) into my food. And I like hiding behind doorways when I hear someone coming so I can jump out and scare them. Funsies.
I also thoroughly enjoy scouring a good sale and saving money wherever I can. Although initially overwhelmed by most crafts and DIY projects, I do enjoy the occasional attempt at creating stuff that looks like it might have fallen off a truck on it’s way to Anthropologie. I try to do things like make my own baby food and consign as much as possible, and sometimes I fail at being the crunchy hippy granola mom I aim to be, but I’m cool with it.
I am what you call a “non-professional”. I cook what I love to eat, and take mediocre (at best) photos, all with my iPhone. There are some great blogs out there with beautiful photography…mine’s not one of them. But if you like good, simple, tasty food (mixed in with tidbits of my stream of consciousness) I’m your girl. I also do a lot of inspired-by recipes, usually changing up the ingredients enough that I consider them my own spin, and will always give credit where that shiz is due.
I started my blog back in 2011 (then called Stylish, Stealthy and Healthy) as a way to maintain the healthy lifestyle I’d adopted to get in shape for my wedding (including a 30+ lb weight loss.) I ended up falling in love with the creative outlet it provided, but even more so, the community around it. Some of my nearest and dearest friends to this day have been some amazing people that I’ve met through this crazy world of blogging.
Although I don’t blog as frequently about food these days, I still love sharing bits and pieces of my life with pretty much anyone willing to listen. My husband and I just had our first baby in September of 2015, and we are madly in love with her. I never thought I’d be a “mom blog”, but here I am, non-stop-talking about being a mom. Whoops?
My husband and I are total TV addicts and (when the baby allows) you can find us spending some QT with each other and the DVR. I’m a lover of wine and pizza (together and separately) and a hoarder of beauty products. I’m a social media addict (especially instagram) and over-user of parentheses. (For real.) We have two crazy rescue dogs, and I’m a huge advocate for adoption of pets and the Humane Society. If I had a million dollars I’d have 10 babies and 10 dogs. And a nanny who also walks dogs. Now that’s a million dollar idea.
